Biography
Originally from Ukraine, Angela Oliynyk comes from a family of professional artists. In Ukraine, Angela earned a Bachelor degree in Decorative Arts (Kharkov) and worked as a professional painter and illustrator. Her works were exhibited in many galleries throughout her country of origin.
In 2000, Angela moved to Canada where she received a Bachelor in Education of fine arts (UQAM, Montreal) and a Bachelor in Graphic Design (UQO, Gatineau). Knowledge acquired in both Europe and North America gives Angela an extensive experience of the various techniques used in traditional and digital medias.
The artist is fascinated by children’s literature, especially by the tales and legends from around the world. Always inspired by the traditional arts, Angela has spent years painting and illustrating tales. The artist depicts the wonderful world of imagination with originality and a great sense of humor. It reveals the characters of legends and folk songs, as well as funny animals, gnomes and other small fantastic creatures.
Recently, the artist illustrated a children’s book « The magic world of Princesses » for the publishing house Character (Les Éditions Transcontinental). This book, written with great sense of humour by Dominique Loppinot, celebrates the magic world of princesses. It gives all the answers to many questions: Do princesses wake up all headdressed? What do they eat for breakfast? Are they all really polite? This beautifully illustrated book includes interactive elements and allows many discoveries.
